What is a Geyser Solar Unit?
Share
A geyser solar unit (GSU) is an innovative new technology that takes energy produced by an array of solar photovoltaic panels and feeds it directly to the existing element of your standard geyser.
There is no need for batteries in the system as the energy is stored in your geyser as heat energy.
The geyser is one of the average household’s highest consumers of electricity and also one of the most difficult to connect to a solar system due to the high current draw.
Convert your existing geyser to Solar PV power with our new GeyserTECH Pi²R and Pi²R iX GSU’s. Our modules will fill that gap in your energy planning by feeding directly from solar PV panels to the existing geyser element.
The GeyserTECH Pi²R and Pi²R iX GSU’s are both AC and DC connected. This means one can set when grid power should be used to top up the temperature - typically early morning and late evening. This is achieved by means of a timer on the Micro and standard iX and by the programmable touch screen which comes with the iX SMART.
All GeyserTECH Pi²R and Pi²R iX GSU’s have built in MPPT solar controllers which enables the Pi²R to extract power more efficiently out of the PV panels by adapting the intake power to the current weather conditions.
