The GeyserTECH+ Pi²R iX can be used with any existing 50-300 Liter geyser. Power is fed to the geyser from an array of solar photovoltaic panels via the controller in the same way that the standard Pi²R does and can be controlled by a timer in the Distribution Board. However, the new GeyserTECH+ iX controller can be coupled with the optional digital touchscreen display. The temperature is additionally monitored by a separate temperature sensor and this allows for greater control of temperature and time schedules. Maximum heating temperatures for grid and solar powered heating can be independently set. The existing thermostat is still used to easily connect the power cables, but set to maximum (70° Celsius) so as to also function as a safety cut-off.  The Digital Display (optional) then automates the timing functionality and an external DB timer is not needed. 

The GeyserTECH+ iX can also operate in off-grid installations as it draws power from either Grid or PV for its internal circuitry. The Display also charges its battery from either Grid or PV and has a big enough battery to last through the night. We do however recommend that off-grid installations use an optional higher capacity battery for the display as this will help during winter time when nights are a bit longer.
